The Epipen and Emergency Care Plan
Care Plans: a Must
Each child with allergies in your care is required to have an emergency care plan on file with your childcare center. This plan is filled out by the child’s doctor and explains their allergens and which allergies can cause the most extreme reactions. It will also explain the exact steps that you need to take if the child has ingested allergens or you suspect an allergen ingestion.
The emergency care plan should be placed in a secure location along with two epipens. These items need to be quickly accessible in case of an emergency.
Here is a short video that shows you how to use an epipen.
