Do you know what to do if a child in your care has a severe allergic reaction to food? With the rise in food allergies among young children, it’s likely to happen.
In this course you’ll learn which foods commonly trigger allergies, how to recognize an allergic reaction, what to do in an emergency situation and classroom practices to keep all children safe. Insightful videos create awareness about food allergy bullying, teach you how to use an EpiPen and how children feel when they can’t eat the foods everyone else is able to eat.
A Listening Sheet is included for discussion and reflection. You’ll also get handouts with recipes for gluten-free play dough, potential allergens in common preschool activities and how to use an emergency care plan.
